Lucy Liu was born in the United States. Liu is an American actor, singer and voice actor. A beautiful and smart actress, she's an inspiration for many Asian actors who wish to make it big in Hollywood. Following a string of early appearances on popular TV shows, she gained fame after joining the crew of the cult comedy show Ally McBeal where she played the villainous Ling Woo. Following her fame, she got important parts for her in Shanghai Noon (1998) and Charlie's Angels (2000). The actress then gave a superb performance as Japanese criminal O'Ren Ishii, in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Volume 1. She also played leading characters in failed box office films such as Rise: Blood Hunter. After that, she started to sing prominent characters for animation films, such as Kung Fu Panda. Mia Mason from Cashmere Mafia was an unimportant role which failed to have any impact. Southland is a critically-acclaimed series of crime dramas that featured Liu in recurring parts, helped to establish her as an actress. Liu carefully selects roles to avoid being a stereotype in a field where competition is fierce. While she's extremely proud of her culture but she doesn't let it limit her imagination.
